  https://youtu.be/LvcOD7ZCu8o This video excursion is to highlight my trip towards Dumtseg Lhakhang which is nestled on the edge of a hill between Paro and Dopchari Valley, across a bridge from Paro.  It is walkable from Main Town Paro. It is on the way to National  Museum   just a 10-minute walk from Paro town. We need to cross the Paro river.  It was Built in the 14th century by the famous Buddhist master Thangtong Gyalpo. The main construction of the temple was carried out by Thusay Dawa Zangpo and his 6 Lams. The temple was extended by the 25th Je-Khenpo Sherab Gyeltsen with the aid from local villages and donors. The name of the donors are still seen craved on the tree trunk. The temple was renovated by Her Majesty Gyalyum Kezang Choeden Wangchuck.  The temple is divided into three parts Ground floor (which is considered as hell) First floor (considered as earth) and Second floor (considered as heaven). This majestic fortress was c onstructed by Ngawang Namgyal, 1st Zhabdrung Rinpoche, in 1637–38, it is the second oldest and second-largest dzong in Bhutan.  The dzong was constructed  as an "embodiment of Buddhist values"  and was one of the 16 dzongs built by the Zhabdrung during his rule from 1594 to 1651.  The Punakha Dzong, also known as Pungthang Dewa chhenbi Phodrang, is the administrative centre of Punakha District.  In earlier times, dzongs were used for defensive purposes. Now these are used for administrative as well as religious purposes. T he dzong houses the sacred relics of the southern Drukpa Lineage of Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, including the Rangjung Kasarpani and the sacred remains of Ngawang Namgyal and the tertoen Pema Lingpa.  In view of the healthy climate in the region, Punakha is the winter capital of Bhutan. The head of the clergy of Bhutan with his entourage of monks spend the winter in this dzong.

The first picture is the  fortress which was built in 1659 at top of edge with steep cliffs on three sides, overlooking the Drangme Chhu and Gamri Chhu rivers. The construction of the Dzong was prophesied by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal who ordered the  Penlop (Governor) of Trongsa , Chhogyal Minjur Tampa to put down local chieftains and construct the Dzong.  The monastery was  founded by His Eminence Dungsey Garab Dorje Rinpoche in the year 1989 .
