Blue Poppy

It is a blue poppy scientifically known as meconopasis betonicifolia  which is acknowledged to be significant as it is considered as the national flower of Bhutan. It is found in the alpine region across the country which usually inhibits in the rocky terrain above tree line (alpine region: region that occurs above the tree-line and below the snow-line on temperate and tropical mountains). Its seeds take about two to three years to bloom, and the plant flowers only once, after which it turns to seeds and eventually dies. Through this children will be able to know the national flower and the characteristics of alpine region such as a relatively cold and harsh climate, high altitude and a complex topography.
